Event Centre Plaza Mayor
From its areas, pavilions and exhibition and convention halls, Plaza Mayor is understood today as a platform for interaction and business; as a strategy for internationalisation.
From its first stone for the Yellow Pavilion, the trade fair and convention centre, until today, Plaza Mayor has been built in the heart of Medellín as a space to welcome the city, the country and the world through its most important events and meetings.
Parques del Río
It is a 71,800 sqm park of public space that integrated the city with its river to generate equity, competitiveness and sustainability. Of the total of this extensive urban infrastructure, 38,052 sqm correspond to green areas and 280 trees were planted there to provide citizens with a natural environment to strengthen Medellín as an eco-city and become an important refuge for various species of flora and fauna.
Walk through the two stages of the park located on the western and eastern sides of the Medellín River, which are connected by two bridges located at the southern and northern ends. Along the way you will not only be able to enjoy spaces full of nature, but also a vast range of cultural and gastronomic offerings.
Boulevard Carrera 70
Do you fancy shopping or having a drink on a terrace?
You have found the right place! The Carrera 70 Boulevard offers a wide range of shopping and dining options where you can enjoy the best flavours and aromas of Antioquia.
For those who want to discover something traditional, we recommend you to take a handicraft tour. Here you will be able to find handbags, handles, souvenirs, earrings, etc. and take home an original souvenir of our city.
If you are looking for something fun and festive, this is also the place for you. Carrera 70 is known among the locals as the fun run, where you can listen to anything from urban music, plancha, salsa, bachata, etc. to whatever you want with the best energy and attention in the city.
Medellín's Historic Centre
The tour through the historic centre of the city includes the Villanueva Shopping Centre, the Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral, the Bolivar Park, the Lido Theatre and the pedestrian and commercial promenade Junín, a meeting place for many Antioqueños.
We can also find within this tour through the historic centre the Coltejer building, the Berrío Park and its church of La Candelaria, the Oriental Avenue, La Playa Avenue, the Casa Barrientos - today Casa de la Lectura Infantil -, the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Pablo Tobón Uribe Theatre.
In an environment of centenary groves, this area is home to theatre companies, bookshops, artisans, pastry shops, restaurants, hotels and commercial establishments.
Museo de Antioquia
The Museum of Antioquia, founded in 1881, has an impressive collection of more than 5,000 pieces ranging from archaeological heritage to contemporary art.
There you can admire fresco murals by the artist Pedro Nel Gómez and find art residencies, contemporary art projects, as well as the art library.
Since 2010, the Museum and the Mayor's Office of Medellín have been working together on a plan for urban renewal and the construction of a cultural district in the city centre, through programmes and projects such as Museo 360.
